Gold Rebounds After the Fed: Can $4,100 Come Back Into View?

Resistance: $4,085 / $4,100

Support: $4,025 / $4,000

Gold is trying to regain its footing after another volatile session, rebounding from around $4,025 and moving back above $4,060 following the Fed’s latest rate decision.

The Fed kept rates unchanged at 3.75%–4.00%, as widely expected. But the decision was not as dovish as some gold buyers may have hoped. Two policymakers voted for a rate hike, while the Fed described economic growth as “strong,” keeping the possibility of another move later this year alive.

That helps explain why gold did not simply surge after the Fed held rates. With much of the decision already priced in, traders are now looking for clearer clues on where US rates go next.

$4,100 Is the Next Test

For now, $4,085–$4,100 is the key resistance zone. Gold has struggled around this area recently, so a clear move above $4,100 would strengthen the rebound and suggest buyers are beginning to regain control.

On the downside, $4,025 is the first support to watch. Below that, attention quickly returns to $4,000 — a major psychological level that has already attracted buyers during the recent selloff.

GDP and PCE Could Set the Next Move

The focus now shifts to US third-quarter GDP and PCE inflation.

Stronger growth or hotter inflation could push Treasury yields and the dollar higher again, making it harder for gold to break through $4,100. Softer data, however, could ease rate concerns and give the rebound more room to extend.

For now, gold remains caught between $4,000 support and $4,100 resistance. A break on either side could give traders a clearer signal on where the next move is heading.
