The US Dollar remained firm against the Japanese Yen on Tuesday, with USD/JPY trading near 162.40 as investors weighed escalating tensions in the Middle East against renewed hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough.
While ceasefire discussions offered some relief to broader markets, ongoing concerns over regional stability and global energy supplies continued to support demand for the US Dollar.
The currency pair has also found support from the widening policy gap between the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan.
Rising oil prices have revived concerns that inflation could remain elevated, leading some investors to scale back expectations for near-term Fed easing. At the same time, Japan continues to maintain an accommodative monetary stance, keeping the interest-rate differential firmly in the dollar's favour and supporting demand for carry trades.
Despite trading close to a multi-decade high, traders remain alert to the possibility of official intervention.
Japanese authorities have repeatedly signalled that they are closely monitoring excessive currency moves, increasing speculation that further yen-support measures could be considered if volatility accelerates.

Technically, USD/JPY remains in a constructive uptrend despite recent consolidation.
The pair is trading around its 20-period EMA near 162.31, suggesting that bullish momentum remains intact even as price action pauses below resistance.
The RSI remains in the mid-50s, indicating that buying pressure is still positive without entering overbought territory.
The immediate resistance stands at 162.84, the pair's multi-decade high.
A decisive break above this level could open the door toward the 164.00 psychological barrier, reinforcing the broader bullish trend.
On the downside, initial support is seen near the rising trendline around 162.26. A sustained break below that level could trigger a deeper pullback toward 160.49, where the current rally began.
For now, USD/JPY remains supported by yield differentials and safe-haven demand for the US Dollar.
However, with the pair hovering near levels that previously prompted official intervention, traders are likely to remain cautious as the market tests whether buyers have enough momentum to push beyond 162.84.
