Miami-based brand incubator Unserious announced on July 22 that it has acquired Creepz, an NFT collection launched during the 2021-22 NFT market cycle. The acquisition was backed by scrap-metal entrepreneur and NFT collector Adam Weitsman and completed in cooperation with members of the original founding team.
One notable aspect of the acquisition is the return of Psychrome, who created the collection's original visual identity and lore. He will lead future intellectual property development. His previous commercial work includes collaborations with Nike, Disney and Warner Bros.
On-chain snapshot (OpenSea, as of July 22):
- Collection size: 11,112 NFTs (launched January 2022)
- Floor price: 0.1597 ETH (approximately US$400)
- Lifetime trading volume: 57,600 ETH
- Unique holders: 2,253 (20.3% of total supply)
According to publicly available company information, Weitsman is the CEO and owner of Upstate Shredding–Weitsman Recycling. Before becoming active in the NFT market, he collected 19th-century American stoneware and has publicly stated that he continues to acquire digital assets from Yuga Labs.
For market participants, the acquisition is notable because members of the Unserious team previously worked on several high-profile crypto projects, including ApeCoin. Similar NFT intellectual property acquisitions have previously been associated with increased short-term floor price volatility, although market responses have varied. Traders may monitor changes in Creepz's floor price and listing activity over the coming weeks as indicators of how the market is responding to the acquisition.
